    I agree.  I figure that anyone who is particularly interested will keep
    reading and discover that the statement is conditional.

    The usual way is not necessarily the *best* way.*  Also, I frequently
    see uses of the latter style which are very readable for me.  In this
    case, I think that the latter style works well.
