I think what needs to be resolved can be characterized as "the utility
is not yet interactive enough".

* the displaying of the helpscreen (reached via pressing 'h') is delayed
  until the execution of command has finished. It is not real time.

* Command's stdout is printed correctly, but it stderr is ends up
  weirdly interleaved.

* Command's output (stdout+stderr) are only displayed _after_ the
  command has fully completed, it is not real time. I'd like to see the
  output as it happens.
