    You're right, it's best to compile and test.
    
    I put your patch on 7.7 and built it. Kernel booted fine. I then put
    O_BELOW into use in openrsync, wherever I saw O_DIRECTORY. Regress
    seemed to run fine.
    
    I'm busy today, but will keep testing and confirm that it's working for
    me.
