Some people value their online privacy, and a key part of that is 
concealing your true public IP address. Your public IP carries a wealth 
of personal information, which is shared with every service you use 
(including the mirrors from which you update your system or install 
packages). In my opinion, Tor is one of the most secure and popular 
methods for achieving this.
