Indeed, hence the commented questions I was hoping to get some feedback
on. Walter's diff circumvents this by avoiding the lineout buffer and
printing each day to stdout directly. However, doing that requires a
larger rewrite.

I'm happy to hear other suggestions, but I can live without the feature
or with a shell alias as Crystal suggested.
